WDV Athletics
This year, WDV had a successful out in Pioneer League play. 19 of our athletes and one of our coaches were voted as MVP, First or Second Team All-League. This is a tremendous step forward for our growing sports program as we look to continue to excel in athletics in the coming years. Below are the athletes and coach who made the Pioneer All-League Teams:
We also had several standouts from our Girls Swim Team (Tanaz Engineer, Kaia Henty-Dodd, Andrea Cornejo and Taylor Jackson) as well as the Boys Swim Team (Rayan Engineer, Alex Zakrzewski, Apollo Ivins, Zirak Engineer, Cannon Mosteller, and Adam Flores) who went to the CIF Finals in their respected events.
Last but not least, WDV Track had their first State Champion in the Hurdles, won by Olivia Griffin!
Congratulations to our All-League Athletes and to our CIF Champion!
What a journey Olivia Griffin has led the Da Vinci Track and Field program on this year.
From becoming the 300m Hurdles Pioneer League Champion to being the 6th fastest 300m hurdler in the state of California, Olivia has raised the bar for Da Vinci Track and Field. Track season no longer ends in late April; now, late May is the new norm for the Wolf pack.
Please join me in congratulating Olivia for her work ethic, focus, and exceptional athletic ability.
Over the weekend, our Lady Wolf, Olivia Griffin qualified to represent the CIF Southern Section in the 300m hurdles. Olivia is taking WDV Track and Field to new heights. She will compete in the California State preliminaries on Friday, May 24th at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California. Please join us in congratulating Olivia for putting in the work, and always striving to “get better and better every day in every way!”
Over the weekend, Olivia Griffin achieved a historic feat in Wiseburn Da Vinci Track and Field. She secured second and third place in the CIF-Division 2 Finals in the 100 and 300 hurdles, making her the first WDV athlete ever to do so. However, her journey doesn’t end there. As an additional historic feat, she has earned a spot in the Southern Section Masters Meet, where top athletes from all four state divisions will compete. On May 18th, she will compete in the 300 hurdles at Moorpark High School (4500 Tierra Rejada Rd, Moorpark, CA 93021). Let’s congratulate Olivia on this remarkable accomplishment — and good luck at the Masters Meet!!
Congratulations to our WDV Track Team that had an amazing showing in the Pioneer League Finals last Thursday (April 25th) at West Torrance. We are Pioneer League 4×100, 4×400, 100m, 200m, 100H, 300H, and 400m Champions!! We are so proud of our student-athletes who excel both on and off the field!!
