WDV Archery Program Information Meeting – 9/18

Join the Wiseburn Da Vinci Archery Program for 2024-2025!

Are you interested in archery? Whether you’re a returning archer or brand new to the sport, we’re excited to welcome you to try out for the Wiseburn Da Vinci Archery program for the 2024-2025 season!

Important Dates to Remember:

Info Session for students and families:
Date: Wednesday, September 18th
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Blackbox Theater, 201 Douglas Campus
All interested archers and families should plan to attend this session to learn about the program and ask any questions you might have.

Complete the Interest Form

Even if you filled out the form last year, you need to do it again! This is crucial for organizing training and tryouts.

Weekly training: Depending on the level of interest, you’ll be assigned to one training day per week from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. You’ll need to arrive on time, help set up equipment, warm up, and collaborate with the team.

Mandatory Safety Meetings: All interested students must attend a safety meeting before participating in any further team activities. Even if you’ve done this before, it’s a must to do it again.

Dates:
Tuesday, October 1st OR Wednesday, October 2nd
Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Pick the day that works best for you!

Archery Training:
Once you’ve attended a Mandatory Safety Meeting, you’re ready to start training!

Dates: October 8th – November 6th
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Tuesdays: Da Vinci Communications and Da Vinci Design students
Wednesdays: Da Vinci Science and Da Vinci Connect students
(Subject to change based on interest)

Tryouts to Make the Team: Two rounds of tryouts will be held using Olympic ranking criteria. Your scores from both rounds will determine your ranking.

Dates:
November 12th & 19th: DVD and DVC students
November 13th & 20th: DV Connect and DVS students
(Subject to change based on interest)

The top 20 archers will secure spots on the team, forming both JV and Varsity squads. Those who don’t make the team this year will be encouraged to try out again next year.

Practice Schedule for Team Members: Once the team is selected, practices will be held twice a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, starting after Thanksgiving Break.

Competition Season: The season kicks off in January, with tournaments running from February through mid-May. Please note that competitions are far away (Beaumont/Chula Vista), and school transportation will not be provided.

Important Update for WDV Girls Soccer Info Meeting – Rescheduling

Attention those interested in attending the WDV Girls Soccer Info Meeting previously slated for next week. Unfortunately our WDV Girls Soccer meeting must be rescheduled due to a facilities conflict with the Da Vinci Design Back to School Night event on 9/10/24.

We are actively working with the facilities team to secure a new day, time, and location for the meeting. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we finalize the details.

Attention all soccer enthusiasts and future stars of the game! We’re excited to invite you to our Boys Soccer Information Meeting, happening on Thursday, August 29th at 4:00 PM on the West Plaza. This is a great opportunity to learn about our upcoming season, including details on the frosh/soph, junior varsity, and varsity teams, as well as practice schedules and team expectations.

Girls Basketball Tryouts – September 5th!

Attention all interested girls 🏀 players! 🏆 The moment you’ve been waiting for is almost here: Girls Basketball Tryouts are just around the corner! Mark your calendars and set your alarms because tryouts are happening on Thursday, September 5th, at the WDV gym from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Pre-register here (2024-25 Tryout Registration) or scan the QR code:

Here’s What You Need to Know:

1. Physicals and Athletic Clearance

Before you hit the court, make sure you’ve got your physicals completed. For detailed information on how to get your physicals and athletic clearance, please check out the post on how to get your physical for FREE here. Your health and safety are our top priority, so don’t skip this important step!

2. Dress Code

Come dressed for action! Here’s the attire you should wear:

T-shirt (no low-cut V-neck shirts, please)
Shorts (no sweatpants or stretch pants)
Athletic shoes (ensure they are comfortable and suitable for playing basketball)

Please Note: For your safety and comfort, jewelry is not allowed during tryouts.

3. What to Bring

Positive Attitude: Show up ready to give your best effort and demonstrate your skills.
Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is key during intense practice sessions.
Energy: Be prepared to work hard and have fun!

4. Why You Should Try Out

This is your chance to be part of an amazing team, develop your skills, and make new friends. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, tryouts are the perfect opportunity to showcase your talent and passion for basketball.

5. Additional Tips
