Winter Sports Update

  • Girls Basketball
Our girls’ basketball team has been hitting the gym hard in preparation for the upcoming season. Under the guidance of their head coach Duane Fuast and new assistant coaches Rosanne Sanfillipo and Terrica Franklin, the team is finding their rhythm and preparing to make waves. “We are very excited for this season. The immense support we’ve received from Rahkeem from EXOS and our Da Vinci Finance and Marketing departments. As a head coach it is a good feeling to know how much our girls are supported by such capable school staff and personnel,” said Coach Faust. “It really builds a solid foundation for our girls varsity basketball team to have a great year.” They’ll kick off their season with an exciting road tournament before jumping into regular-season action.
  • Boys Basketball
Fresh off their 2nd place finish in the Pioneer League last year, the Boys Basketball teams are gearing up for the next challenge in the competitive Bay League, where they’ll face top-tier opponents like Redondo Union, Mira Costa, and West Torrance. Since September, the Varsity team has been preparing with days at the track, beach, EXOS, in the gym and in fall league action. They have spent time bonding, training and supporting their fellow WDV teams throughout the fall season. The varsity coach, Jeff Amaral, had this to say about thecoming season, “We are extremely excited to challenge ourselves with the toughest schedule in school history with tournaments at St. Monica, our host tournament over Thanksgiving, a return to the Holiday Classic at Torrey Pines and our entry into the Bay League, considered by many as one of the top public school leagues in Southern California.” Hopefully you got a chance to come support the Varsity team as they hosted a home tournament over the Thanksgiving break, November 25-30!

  • Boys and Girls Soccer
Both soccer programs are taking full advantage of the brand-new WDV Soccer Field, as they prepared for their league-opening games at the end of November. Girls Soccer varsity head coach Mimi Nartey is looking forward to the coming season, “The players have been fantastic at training. Everyone has been positive and coachable. We are learning and growing by leaps and bounds! Let’s go set it off, ladies!”

We can’t wait to see their hard work pay off on the pitch!

  • Cheer Team
Our cheerleaders are ready to shine as they gear up for upcoming competitions. The headed out for the JAMZ Championship on November 23 at the Anaheim Convention Center! Their energy, skill, and spirit will undoubtedly lit up the stage and sidelines alike.

Thank You, Fans and Families

None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our families, fans, and community members. Thank you for showing up for our teams and creating an electric atmosphere at every game, meet, and competition.

Stay tuned for updates and highlights as we enter the winter season. Let’s keep the momentum going, Wiseburn Da Vinci!

Wiseburn Da Vinci Athletic Department Update (Oct. ’24)

Fall Sports Wrap Up and Team Highlights

First, a huge congratulations to our boys beach volleyball team! They had a stellar season, finishing in 2nd place in their division. They fought their way to the playoff finals, and although they came up just a touch short, they should be incredibly proud of their second-place finish. We’re grateful for their dedication and effort on the sand.

October was a huge month for girls volleyball. The team has been working hard all season and ended with a thrilling three-way tie match at home against Peninsula, which they won! This victory solidified their standing as the second-place finishers in the Pioneer League. They made it all the way to the CIF Playoffs on October 24—Congratulations to our Wolves! A special thank you to our Seniors Olivia Gonser, Kendra Kehl and Lina Valenzuela for all you have done for WDV girls volleyball, we will miss you!

Winter Sports Training Season

Our archery program also saw a fantastic turnout for the recent safety meetings and training sessions. It’s wonderful to see so many new faces interested in the sport. We’re eagerly looking forward to tryouts in November, and we wish all aspiring archers the best of luck.

The WDV girls soccer season is officially underway! We appreciate everyone’s patience during the planning season. The tryouts had an excellent turnout on our brand-new Wiseburn Da Vinci soccer field. We can’t wait to see what the season has in store for this talented group.

The WDV boys soccer team has been training and are ready for their first scrimmages at the beginning of November. The first home game on the new WDV Soccer Field will be held on November 15 @ 4:30pm (JV) and 6:00pm (Var) vs. Lynwood. Come out and cheer on your home team!

With winter sports’ official season on the horizon, keep an eye out for upcoming updates and schedules for boys and girls basketball, as well as boys and girls soccer. We’re especially excited to welcome everyone to our brand-new Wiseburn Da Vinci HOME turf for soccer games—it’s going to be an exciting season!

As always, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the coaches, families, and friends who have cheered on our teams this fall. Your support means the world to our athletes and helps drive them to succeed. Go Wolves!
