Weekly Athletics update for the week of 1/17/23
This week in Athletics we have the following events taking place as we close in on the end of our first Pioneer League Winter sports season:
Girls Basketball:
Plays Dorsey at 4PM in the WDV Gym on Tuesday 1/17.
On Wednesday 1/18, they will play at South Torrance at 5:30PM.
Boys Basketball:
JV will play this Wednesday, 1/18 at 3:30PM at South Torrance followed by the Varsity Boys at 7PM.
Boys Soccer:
Varsity Boys play 1/18 @ South Torrance at 3:15PM followed by JV Boys at 4:45PM.
JV Boys will also @ Hawthorne on Friday 1/20 at 5:00PM.
Girls Soccer:
Plays @ home at Juan Anza Elementary. JV at 4:15pm and Varsity at 5:45PM.
Valley Cup Make-up games:
JV Girls play Saturday 1/21, at 5:00PM.
V Girls play Saturday 1/21, at 6:30PM.

Weekly Athletic Updates for December 5th-10th
Girls’ Soccer will compete in a tournament in Laguna Hills and Bellflower this Saturday, December 10th. See coaches for specific game times.
The Boys’ Soccer game against Rolling Hills prep scheduled for Monday has been cancelled due to a field wash-out from the rains this past week. They will compete on Wednesday, December 7th, at Culver City H.S. JV @3:30PM, V @ 5:00PM.
Girls’ Basketball will be playing W-F, & possibly Saturday at Bishop Conaty’s Winter Tournament with games at 4:30PM, 3:00PM and 7:30PM respectively, with Saturday’s game time TBD.
Boys’ Varsity Basketball will play at Calvary Chapel on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and possibly Friday. Respective game times: 7:30PM, 6:00PM, 6:00PM and TBD.
Boys’ JV Basketball will play at Paramount on Wednesday, December 7th at 4:30PM.
Try-outs will take place this week for the following Spring sports:

Girls Basketball will continue their tournament Thursday (12/1) for a game at 4:30pm at St. Monica Catholic School.

2023 Spring Season Tryouts
Boys and Girls
December 6 & 7
4:30 – 6 p.m.
You must be present for both tryout dates.
Minimum requirements for tryouts:
Should be able to swim all 4 strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle)
Should be able to swim at least 200 yards without stopping (8 laps)
Time trials will be held during tryouts. Fastest times make the team.
New and returning swimmers need to try out.

Quick updates for the week in Athletics:
This week we have Girls Basketball Tournament taking place from 11/15-11/17 @ Dymally High School.
They will also play on 11/21 @ WDV gym at 1pm.
Boys Basketball will play @ home in the WDV Gym on Wednesday 11/16 @ 5:30pm and 7pm as well as on Saturday 11/19 @ El Segundo against Palos Verdes. Game times are JV @ 6PM, V @ 7:30PM.
Boys Basketball will also have a home tournament from 11/21-11/22 continuing on 11/25 and 11/26.
Girls V Soccer will have their first Scrimmage vs Animo on 11/22 @ Juan Anza Home Field at 5PM.

Reminder: athletes must complete a yearly physical and upload this to participate in sport practices. These must be uploaded prior to practices on CIF Home. This link is available on our athletic webpage, once you click this, create an account with the student’s name they enrolled in school with. From there, simply upload all the forms and let the coach know you have completed these steps, and wait for clearance from the AD.

Girls’ Volleyball Silent Auction Closes on Oct. 21
The Girls’ Volleyball Silent Auction is going strong! Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in the virtual auction that closes this Friday (Oct. 21).
There are some great items to bid on such as Rams vs. Chargers tickets, a 3-night stay in Palm Springs, and a one hour photo shoot.
Funds raised will go towards our end of season awards, banquet, and remaining Hawaii tournament costs.
